Former Ivy League professor. I taught at Dartmouth College, Johns Hopkins, UC Davis, others. On faculty at University of Maryland Global Campus. I published pioneering Internet addiction research in 1996. I explore Internet phenomena and emerging technologies. My media dependency work and research on AI agency and technoethics tied to moving the Internet appliance into the body are ongoing. Two forthcoming textbooks to be published by Cognella Academic Publishing. I’m a former journalist.
